9. What is the special about Balinese New year ?

Bali has a 210 day calendar which begins on the day of Nyepi. The day before Nyepi is observed through a Ogo Ogo procession taken out in every village. This is followed by the day of Nyepi, which is observed as a day of silent reflection throughout the island with all vehicles off the road and everyone staying at home. The day after Nyepi is observed as a day of purification. And, the day after that is one of new beginnings.

Our retreat will include all the above experiences, with Subba guiding the Silent retreat at BeingSattvaa on the day of Nyepi.
