The Back Is Often Tired, Not Weak…

Most of us think we have a weak back. But very often, the real problem is something else.

Modern lifestyles place constant pressure on the spine through long hours of sitting, stress, and device use.

The muscles of the back are constantly working to support us.

And they rarely get the chance to rest and relax.

Over time, they become:

• overworked
• tight
• knotted
• unused to releasing tension

The Idea Behind This Workshop

This workshop introduces a different approach to caring for the back.

Instead of forcing the body, we explore how to:

• allow the back to rest deeply
• use breath and gravity to release tension
• gently improve mobility in the spine
• strengthen the muscles that stabilise the back

You will experience how simple, mindful practices can help the spine feel lighter, more supported and more comfortable.


What You’ll Experience?

Across the two sessions, we will explore:

• conscious relaxation for the back
• breathing practices to release tension
• gentle spinal movements
• postures that stabilise the back
• movements that reduce neck and thoracic strain
• simple practices you can continue at home


What You’ll Practice

Along with understanding, you will be gently guided through basic, foundational breathing practices, including:

  1. Rest & Release the spine (MaR 28, Saturday, 10 AM SGT)

    • understanding why the back becomes tired
    • conscious relaxation practices
    • breathing awareness
    • gentle spinal movements

  2. Support and Stabilise the Spine (MaR 29, SUNDAY, 10 AM SGT)

    • stabilising postures for the back
    • reducing tech-related neck strain
    • a simple home practice routine

No prior experience with yoga is required.

Coming in with almost a decade of teaching experience, Surbhi shares the practice of classical Hatha Yoga with breath at the centre of the practice
